I wanted to share some pictures of the kids that I took at my cousins wedding last week. The kids are growing and changing so fast I thought I should post some new pictures of them.

Kaylee had a great Birthday. She got to enjoy two parties in fact. Everything about her birthday was beautiful and sunny just like her. Happy 5 Kaylee!

This week has brought a lot of rain with it. It started out with light rain on Monday and it really rained Tuesday and Wednesday. We had 9.5” in a 48 hour period in fact. CJ enjoyed being able to go out and splash around in his rain boots.
You can see CJ looking at where the garden would be. I was going to go over it again with the rototiller on Tuesday and then plant it but that was not to be. Half of it is still under about two inches of water. If it doesn’t rain maybe I will be able to get it done next week.
There is still water all the way across the road though it has gone down a lot.
I think that I might be the only person in Del Norte county that was happy about all the rain we got. I really did miss it when we lived in the desert.

This morning at church Uncle John invited us out on his new boat The Reel Adventure for an afternoon boat ride. He is starting a new business taking people out fishing, sightseeing, or just for a ride. He needed people to go with him so a photographer could take pictures for an advertisement. Of course we were more than willing to to help out. We had a great time and everyone enjoyed the ride and being with family.
Captain Ethan and Captain Kaylee both enjoyed their time at the wheel.
CJ enjoyed most of his ride up on the top watching for buoys.
I spent most of my time chasing Ethan and Kaylee around the boat making sure we all got back to land dry. I would say we had another fun day. Maybe tomorrow uncle Randy, Bud, or David will call and need some cute kids to take out on their boats.

One fun part of our life here is Poppy’s boat. All the kids love to go with Poppy to the boat. In fact that is where the older two are right now. Today the kids got a little ride across the harbor from where we watched them unload the crab pots to where the boat is tied up. Kaylee and Ethan didn’t think the ride was long enough though. I guess they take after their mom when it comes to being on the ocean.

These are the six luckiest chicks in the world. We have been talking about them and planning on getting them for about four months now. The kids helped grandma pick them out and then they named them. Ethan’s chick is Fluffy, Kaylee’s is Barbie (I am not a fan of Barbie nor does she have one but she seems to think she likes Barbie), and CJ’s is Jill. Jill was going to be Jack until they found out that all the chicks were girls. The other chicks are Dora, Poopala (Poppy named that one), and Flower .
If you look in Kaylee’s hand you will see how lucky these chicks really are.
The kids had fun today collecting some bugs to feed them.
The only complaints the kids have had about them is that they are not laying eggs yet and that they are so messy. The kids don’t like that they poop so much especially right after their cage has been cleaned.
Ethan is looking forward to helping Poppy build a chicken coup in the near future. For now they live in the garage under a heat lamp.

Today we learned how fun worms could be.
Everyone had a great time checking out the worms, seeing if they were earthworms or grub worms.
It really was a lot of fun digging in the dirt and meeting some of our new neighbors.

We promised Ethan and Kaylee that we would go bowling but never got the opportunity until today. Bumpers in place, we started the hour long game. Ethan bowled exceptionally well on his own, with no help at all from Mom or Dad. Kaylee also tried and may have set the record for longest delay between throwing the ball and hitting the pin!
Mom and Dad both got a couple of strikes apiece, and even CJ got a strike (with a little help from Dad of course).
Fortunately, no one ended up on their faces, no feet were crushed and no fingers pinched. CJ wiped out running on the slick floor, but was too concerned with the fact that it was Grandma’s turn to notice the pain of falling. It was a good time. One thing is for sure….one game is ENOUGH!

Rachel and the kids will be living in Crescent City, CA during my deployment to Korea. They won’t be bored…that’s for sure! The kids discovered that Grandma has a Wii…and boy is it FUN! Hours of bowling, baseball, tennis, boxing and golf await, especially for Ethan and Kaylee. They both have shown great aptitude for playing, and hey, it’s exercise!

We had the awesome opportunity to see Micah and family AND Mom and Dad all at the same time! Micah’s family flew into El Paso where we all met up, had some lunch and then we and they headed up to Alamogordo for a little visit. Mom and Dad joined us on Saturday. The visit was filled with golf, a trip to Cloudcroft (brrrr!), Easter dinner, steak, brats and some Trivial Pursuit. It was great getting to see Micah on his mid-tour before I head to Korea especially, and the opportunity to finally meet Sawyer was great. We will miss being this close to Mom and Dad…we’ve been pretty spoiled getting to see them so much!

Our oldest, Ethan, just had his 6th Birthday! It is hard to believe that he is that old, but alas, it’s true. For his birthday, he wanted to have a “How To Train Your Dragon” themed party, so we baked him a cake in the shape of a shield,
got party hats, plates and some Nerf swords. Rachel came up with the great game of “Kill the Dragon”…naturally, I was the dragon. This game pretty much consisted of me hiding in a big box, the kids chanting “Come out Dragon, Come out Dragon” and me coming out and get ting smacked with swords
…great fun for everyone (thanks for the great game Rachel). Ethan got a Razor scooter, pads, coloring books and some Toy Story 1 and 2 for his birthday and had a great day altogether!

Just some random pictures from us as a family the other night…no real story. Me beating Ethan and CJ in a pillow fight, and a couple of other pics of all of us together…
